Japanese Prints from the 1950s and 1960s
Continuing through January 26, 2014
Gallery of the Art of Asia and the Ancient Western World, second floor
Members of the Sosaku Hanga (Creative Print) group of artists —in contrast to traditional Japanese woodblock artists—cut their own blocks and printed their own work. This selection of prints explores the blend of abstraction and realism in Japanese creative prints from the mid-twentieth century.
