Bike the Bend
Bike the Bend 2013. The ride will be from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19.
It is a non-competitive 30-mile bicycle tour for all ages and skill levels – ride side-by-side on vehicle-restricted streets and explore the community with family and friends.
Organizers estimated that more than 2,000 people will participate.
Riders may start and stop at any point along the 30-mile route. St. Patrick’s County Park is the northern end of the route that follows the river through South Bend and Mishawaka to Merrifield Park. Ride through parks, historic neighborhoods, urban venues, Northern Indiana Center for History, the Indiana University South Bend campus loop, Kamm Island and to Beutter Park in Mishawaka.
IU South Bend will be the site of a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at the pavilion on Northside Boulevard. A cold breakfast will be served at St. Patrick’s Park from 7 to 10:30 a.m.
After the ride festivities will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at IU South Bend. Food will be available for purchase. Music and kids activities will be along the campus pedestrian mall.
The cost is $32 for adult riders. Children under 17 years of age ride free when accompanied by a registered adult rider.
