Arts Week IUB

Finale Fantastique by Bloomington Symphony Orchestra

The final concert of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra’s 42nd season will feature Edward MacDowell’s Hamlet & Ophelia, Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, and a collaboration with students from IU’s Department of Theatre and Drama. The concert will be structured to incorporate scenes from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, as performed by IU Theatre. During intermission, Music Director Charles Latshaw will lead a discussion of the evening’s program in “Chat with Charles.” These informal chats give members of the audience a chance to ask questions about what they’re seeing and hearing, as well as giving them a deeper understanding of the music’s role in the world of orchestral literature. A post-concert reception will wrap up the evening’s activities, and give the audience a chance to socialize with Maestro Latshaw, the actors, and members of the orchestra.
