Are We All Psychopaths? - Philosophy Day Event
Public talk with Dr. Heidi Maibon (Prof. of Philosophy, University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Heidi Maibom (heidimaibom.com) received her undergraduate degree in 1994 from the University of Copenhagen and her PhD in 2000 from University College, London. She taught at Carleton College before moving to the University of Cincinnati, and she has held research fellowships at the University of Cambridge, Washington University in St. Louis, and Princeton University. Drawing on both the philosophical literature and empirical research in psychology and related fields, Dr. Maibom’s work deals with issues in the philosophy of mind and the mind sciences, with an emphasis on the nature of interpersonal relations, particularly as those figure in emotions such as empathy and shame. In addition to publishing a large number of scholarly articles, Dr. Maibom has edited and contributed to three essay collections on empathy, empathy and morality, and “neurofeminism.” She is currently working on a monograph, “Knowing Me, Knowing You: Adventures in Perspective Taking and Empathy."
