Ryan White & William L. Yarber Lecture

Join us as Ryan White’s mother, Jeanne White-Ginder, presents Ralph DiClemente and Gina Wingood with the Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award. Following the award ceremony, DiClemente and Winngood will give a talk--Turning the Tide of the HIV Tsunami:  Reducing HIV Risk among Young Adults

The award presentation, lecture, and dinner will take place in the Tudor Room of the Indiana Memorial Union, followed by a reception at the University Club. Doors open at 5:30. Program begins promptly at 6:00.

Dr. DiClemente is Professor and Chair, Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Associate Dean, Public Health Innovation, College of Global Public Health, Professor, Department of Epidemiology, and Professor, School of Medicine, Population Health, Division of Comparative Effectiveness & Decision Science at New York University.

Dr. Wingood is is the Sidney and Helaine Lerner Professor of Public Health Promotion; Director of the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion, a Professor in the Department of Sociomedical Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University

The Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award was created in 2009 by the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention (RCAP) to honor Ryan White and persons who have made significant, national, and/or international achievements in HIV/AIDS prevention. Ryan White, a rural, INdiana youth, contracted HIV in 1984 and became a national poster boy on AIDS until his death in 1990, a few months prior to his intended enrolllment at indiana University, bloomington. The award plaque given to each recipient reads "in appreciation for your outstanding contributions to HIV/AIDS prevention and for being an exemplary bearer of the standard of excellence and commitment needed to combat HIV/AIDS."
