Creating globally competent individuals is an imperative in the K-12 education these days. Teachers and schools play a crucial role in turning this vision into reality. According to Asia Society, the foundation of global competence is a substantive understanding of the world: “Students demonstrate global competence through awareness and curiosity about how the world works- informed by disciplinary and interdisciplinary insights.” In this session, participants will become familiar with specific ways to teach for and asses global competence by engaging in discussion about what constitutes quality teaching for global competence; how can teachers design instruction to foster global competence among their students, etc.
