Join us for a keynote talk by Professor Richard Milner--one of the leading thinkers on race, poverty, and equity in schooling.

Rac(e)ing to Class: We are in this Together!

Educators often talk about poverty when discussing the failures of our education system in the United States of America, yet they tend to shy away from conversations around race. Milner argues that honest discourse about race and racism is essential for teaching practices that are adequate for all students. In this keynote, Milner examines pervasive raced structural and social policies that shape educators’ mindsets, considers how we can support instructional practices that address race and poverty in meaningful ways, and shares what “successful” schools and districts do to meet the needs of underserved students.
