2016 Early Career Scholar Award presentation and lecture--Dr. James Farmer

Dr. James R. Farmer, Assistant Professor in the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies at the School of Public Health – IUB, will be receiving the 2016 Outstanding Early Career Scholar Award on Monday, April 24, 2017.

The award will be presented prior to a lecture, followed by a reception.

This presentation will focus on community resilience, specifically considering the relationship between recreation, sustainability, and public health. Dr. Farmer will discuss the role that park and community agencies play in vibrant and livable communities- today and into the future. He will also present recent findings from a national survey of park directors on adaptive management strategies for the stewardship of urban ecological systems in the face of changing climate.
