Title: Evan Skillman, University of Minnesota, "Measuring the Primordial Helium Abundance"
Sharing: Public
Start Time: Wednesday April 17, 2013 04:00 PM
End Time: Wednesday April 17, 2013 05:00 PM
Location: The Joseph and Sophia Konopinski Colloquia Series - Swain West 119
Free/Busy: busy

The relative abundances of the light elements are one of the key observations supporting the theory of Big Bang cosmology. I will briefly review the theoretical background for the production of the light elements and then review comparisons with the observational constraints.  I will concentrate on the determination of the primordial helium abundance, our ability to measure it accurately, and its role as a cosmological constraint.
