Description:

Biography: Emilee Mathews is the Research Librarian for Art & Visual Studies at the University of California, Irvine. Previously, she was the Interim Head of the Fine Arts Library at Indiana University, Bloomington. Emilee is a proud alumna of Indiana University's dual degree program in Art History and Library Science, earning her master's degrees in 2011. She researches and writes on intersections of librarianship, visual studies, and digital humanities.

Abstract: Liaison librarians play a pivotal role in connecting users with the library, but there is much change afoot to the liaison model. This presentation will present broad trends while framing hands-on liaison outreach activities, inviting debate on issues of advocacy, utility, and future-oriented goals of the profession.

The new Professionals in Practice series, initiated by ILS Chair Ronald Day, brings graduates of the Master of Information and Master of Library Science programs who will speak to their experience in the professional world and offer tips and suggestions to assist current students in the transition into the workforce.
