The destruction Hurricane Harvey has wrought on Texas and Louisiana has been far reaching, and the full extent of the damage is not yet known. SBA, BLSA, and Fed. Soc., along with the support of many other student organizations, have organized an event to raise funds and collect goods for Hurricane Harvey relief to help out our southern neighbors. These groups will be tabling the next two weeks to collect monetary donations (in the form of cash, check, and credit card) and certain goods (including socks, underwear, feminine supplies, and toiletries). Donation times are set for Tuesday and Wednesday (September 5 and 6) and Monday to Wednesday (September 11-13) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Law School Lobby. You can also bring your donations to the CSO office throughout business hours on Thursdays and Fridays the next two weeks. In an effort to raise as much money as we can, there will be a raffle at the conclusion of next week where every donee will have a chance to win a variety of prizes, including Maurer swag, Maurer event tickets (think Barristers, Halloween, and Maurer Gras), gift cards, etc. The more money/goods you donate, the more entries you get! The three organizations that we will be sending donations to include the Red Cross, the Houston Community Foundation (https://ghcf.org), and United Way of Greater Houston (https://www.unitedwayhouston.org/flood/flood-donation/). You will get to choose which organization you wish to support. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Scoggins (email@example.com), Gina Bettag (firstname.lastname@example.org), or Derrian Smith (email@example.com).
