Hypoxia is common in breast cancer, is a negative prognostic factor, and is associated with breast cancer metastases.  Breast cancer metastases are the leading cause of breast cancer related death.  In this talk, I will provide an introduction to hypoxia and its role in metastatic breast cancer progression, present preliminary results from a discrete model of a primary breast cancer tumor, and a PDE-based model of a single breast cancer metastasis site. Finally, I will discuss future work to connect the metastases into a network as well as relate these models to novel experimental data.
